In the blink of an eye I’ve noticed that my son has matured.
His play has taken on a different form. He’s starting to recreate worlds that we’ve either read in books or that he’s watched on tv.
Some days he’ll want to watch Tangled on repeat and then he’ll sit up on our sofa and pretend to throw his hair over the edge of the ‘tower.’
Which is why at 3 years and 10 months I think he’s ready for his first cinema experience. He already has the ability to sit through most of a movie and cuddle. But it’s what he has the ability to do after he’s watched something that makes me truly believe he’s ready.
He makes up worlds and has the creative scope to bring what he’s watched to life and that gives me the encouragement I need to know that he’s truly absorbed what he’s seen and that it leaves an imprint on him.
There are a few releases coming up at the cinema which would make the perfect first experience at the movies such as My Little Pony: The Movie which is being released on 20th October 2017.
This movie would be a great chance to really test out if Little London is capable of the delights of a cinema experience, and I’m hoping to prep him in advance to help build up the excitement.
After all it’s character recognition that makes him excited about watching something and as he’s unfamiliar with My Little Pony, I know I’ll have to create that intrigue for him.
Luckily the UK’s number one toy retailer, Argos is stocking 10 brand new My Little Pony toys and accessories to coincide with the movie release.
Due to Argos’s speedy service, I ordered the products and they arrived at my door in the following few days.
A nice big Princess Twilight Sparkle with her sidekick Spike the Dragon was something I immediately knew would be a hit for him. Who wouldn’t love a giant pony with hair you can brush?
But the fact Princess Twilight Sparkle can sing and Spike can duet with her makes the toy so much more appealing to Little London. He loves that she has a name, and whenever I ask him where Princess Sparkle Pants is he corrects me and tells me her proper name and presses the little button that makes her speak to find the recording where she announces her name.
The other item we decided to get was the My Little Pony Me Reader.
The reader comes with eight full sized books and using the reader Little London is able to read along with the story page by page just by pressing the appropriate buttons.
Little London loves the novelty of being able to follow the story along by himself. But it has also come in handy when he wants me to read him a story and I’m not in a position to do so. But having the hard copy of the books means I’m able to read them to him as well when I get the chance to sit down with him.
With the promise of popcorn and being able to watch his new toys on the big screen what kid wouldn’t enjoy that first cinema trip?
